RPK-Pattern Sport Carbine Upgrades: A Quick Guide
A compact reference covering Zenitco-made handguards, brackets, stocks, foregrips, bipods, and sling hardware for RPK-pattern sport carbines and civilian carbines built on the same platform. This guide focuses on the 7.62-caliber RPK with a standard non-folding stock. Compatibility differences exist for folding-stock variants, 5.45-caliber versions, and civilian carbines based on the RPK — pay attention to the notes throughout.
1. Handguards
Zenitco offers short handguards for RPK-pattern platforms — matching the length of the factory handguard. Two models are available:
B-20L
Features Basis rails on the bottom and sides. Compatible with the B-19RPK gas-tube bracket and can be installed either together with B-19RPK or with the factory gas-tube cover.
B-20U
Features a Picatinny rail on the bottom and Basis rails on the sides. Also compatible with B-19RPK, and can likewise be paired with it or used with the factory gas-tube cover.
2. Gas-Tube Bracket B-19RPK
Designed specifically for use with the short handguards B-20L and B-20U. It features a low-profile Picatinny rail on top, creating an optics mounting surface above the gas tube. Note: for long handguard variants, a separate gas-tube bracket is not required — it is already included in the corresponding kit.
3. Receiver Cover B-33RPK
Mounts onto any of the handguards listed above. Provides a stable upper surface that integrates with your handguard setup.
4. Additional Picatinny Rails
When extra accessory mounting positions are needed, Zenitco offers a range of add-on Picatinny rail sections that mount onto the Basis rail of any handguard from the list above. Models differ in length:
These are installed as needed — for example, to create a mounting point for additional accessories or to fit the carbine onto a tripod.
5. Stock PT-5RPK
Replaces the standard non-folding stock. Key features include folding with a locking mechanism, length-of-pull adjustment, and the ability to set both buttpad height and cheek piece height. Important: the PT-5RPK is not compatible with RPK variants that already have a factory folding stock. In those cases, choose PT-1RPK or PT-3RPK instead.
6. Foregrips and Handstops
Several options are available depending on your preferred mounting system and grip length:
- RK-1L — foregrip designed for installation on a Basis rail.
- RK-1 — the same foregrip adapted for installation on a Picatinny rail.
- Longer and shorter foregrip variants are also available in the Zenitco lineup.
- RL-1 — handstop, designed for installation on a Basis rail.
7. Charging Handle RP-5
Compatibility depends on the shape of the bolt carrier lever on your specific RPK-pattern carbine. Depending on the model, RP-1 and RP-3 may also be compatible options — verify before ordering.
8. Bipods — "Zhuk" Series
Available in two versions: Zhuk-1 and Zhuk-2, differing in their folding mechanism. Both mount directly onto the Basis side rails of the handguard. Alternatively, both can be mounted on the underside of the handguard — on either a Basis or Picatinny rail — using the Summator-Basis or Summator-Picatinny adapters.
9. Sling Attachments
Zenitco offers multiple sling attachment options for RPK-pattern sport carbines:
- A-2L — sling loop for carabiner-style slings; installs on a Basis rail.
- A-4 — quick-detach sling swivel bracket; mounts on Basis.
- A-6 — quick-detach sling swivel bracket; mounts on the stock.
- A-7 — quick-detach sling swivel bracket; also mounts on the stock.
