Forward-Offset Flashlight Mounts: Complete Comparison of B-9, B-9M, B-9AK, B-9AKSU, B-9L and B-16
When mounting a tactical flashlight on a firearm, it is often necessary to position the light forward of the handguard. This configuration helps free up gripping space, reduces the chance of the beam being obstructed by firearm components, and improves access to remote pressure switches.
To address these requirements, we developed a dedicated line of forward-offset mounts: B-9, B-9M, B-9AK, B-9AKSU, B-9L, and B-16. While all of them serve a similar purpose, each model is designed for specific applications and offers unique features.
All mounts in this lineup are CNC-machined from high-strength D16T aluminum alloy, providing an excellent balance of durability and low weight. The series includes models designed for both Picatinny rails and the Basis mounting interface. Certain versions feature a quick-detach mechanism, while others allow the integration of vertical foregrips directly into the mount itself.
Overview of the Product Line
With the exception of the B-9L, all mounts are designed for installation on a standard Picatinny rail. The B-9L was specifically developed for the Basis mounting system.
Each mount creates a forward-offset mounting position for accessories while differing in weight, dimensions, compatibility, and intended use.
B-9 Mount
The B-9 "Goose Neck" mount was the first product developed in this series and has the longest service history.
One of its most distinctive features is compatibility with the RK series foregrips:
To install a grip, the user removes the standard Picatinny attachment from the foregrip, removes the protective insert covering the T-slot in the B-9 mount, and slides the grip directly into the mount.
This design offers several advantages:
- Reduced overall weight
- More free space on the handguard
- Increased rigidity
- Improved ergonomics
For example, the B-9 weighs 68 g, while the RK-4 foregrip weighs 127 g. Separately, the total weight is 195 g. Once integrated into the B-9, the complete assembly weighs only 127 g, resulting in a weight reduction of 68 g without sacrificing functionality.
B-9M Mount
The B-9M was developed for users who do not require foregrip integration.
Compared to the B-9, the B-9M:
- Is 23 g lighter
- Has a more compact profile
- Retains the primary advantages of the Goose Neck design
Its reduced weight and smaller footprint make it a popular choice for compact firearm setups.
B-9AK and B-9AKSU Mounts
The B-9AK and B-9AKSU were specifically designed for the Klesh flashlight series:
- Klesh-2P
- Klesh-2P IR
- Klesh-2D
- Klesh-2D IR
- Klesh-2U
- Klesh-2U IR
- Klesh-2PS + Laser
- Klesh-2IKS + Laser
These mounts are optimized for use with remote pressure switches. Their design incorporates:
- A cable routing channel
- A dedicated connector clearance opening
- Ergonomic contours around the switch connector area
This ensures that cables remain protected and do not interfere with weapon handling.
The B-9AK is included as standard equipment with several Klesh flashlight models.
The B-9AKSU is nearly identical to the B-9AK but features geometry optimized for AKSU platforms. Otherwise, the two mounts are functionally identical.
Beginning with Version 2.0, both mounts feature a quick-detach mounting system.
B-16 Mount
Unlike the other models, the B-16 is not a Goose Neck-style mount. Instead, it features a straight design.
It is commonly used on:
- Vityaz submachine guns
- Saiga-9 carbines
- TR9 Paradox carbines
Its straight configuration provides an effective mounting solution when a forward-offset Goose Neck design is unnecessary.
Like the B-9AK and B-9AKSU, Version 2.0 and later B-16 mounts incorporate a quick-detach mechanism.
B-9L Mount for the Basis System
The B-9L is specifically designed for the Basis mounting interface.
The mount includes a spacer that allows the user to increase mounting height. This feature is particularly useful when clearance is required around firearm components such as barrel bands or hardware.
The B-9L can be configured:
- Without the spacer for the lowest possible mounting position
- With the spacer for additional clearance and increased height
This versatility makes the B-9L an excellent solution for a wide range of Basis-equipped firearms.
Compatibility with Klesh Flashlights
Several mounts are included as standard components of Klesh flashlight systems.
At the time of writing:
- The B-9AK is included with the Klesh-2PS + Laser Version 3.0
- The B-9AK is included with the Klesh-2IKS + Laser Version 3.0
- The B-9M is included with the Klesh-2 Version 2.1
As the manufacturer, we reserve the right to make changes to product design and package contents provided such changes do not reduce performance or functionality.
Recommended Mounts for Klesh-2P, Klesh-2D and Klesh-2U Series
For the following flashlights:
- Klesh-2P
- Klesh-2P IR
- Klesh-2D
- Klesh-2D IR
- Klesh-2U
- Klesh-2U IR
- Klesh-2PS + Laser
- Klesh-2IKS + Laser
the recommended mounting solutions are:
- B-9AK
- B-9AKSU
These mounts provide dedicated cable routing and connector clearance for remote pressure switches.
Please note that when a remote switch is connected, these flashlight models cannot be mounted on the B-9 or B-9M.
Depending on the firearm configuration, the following mounts may also be suitable:
- B-9L (for Basis installations)
- B-16
Recommended Mounts for Klesh-1 and Klesh-2 Series
For the following models:
- Klesh-1
- Klesh-1 + Laser
- Klesh-1 IR
- Klesh-1 IR + Laser
- Klesh-2
the recommended mounting solutions are:
- B-9
- B-9M
If the flashlight is equipped with a rear cap for a carbine setup and a remote pressure switch is connected, installation on the B-9AK and B-9AKSU is not possible due to configuration constraints.
Depending on the intended setup, the following alternatives may also be used:
- B-9L (for Basis systems)
- B-16
Which Mount Should You Choose?
If you want to integrate a vertical foregrip and maximize handguard space, the B-9 is the ideal choice.
If minimizing weight and overall size is your priority, the B-9M is the best option.
For Klesh flashlights equipped with remote pressure switches, the B-9AK and B-9AKSU provide the most suitable solution.
For Vityaz, Saiga-9, and TR9 Paradox platforms, the straight-design B-16 is often the preferred choice.
If your firearm uses the Basis mounting interface, the B-9L offers a dedicated solution with adjustable mounting height.
Selecting the correct mount not only improves flashlight placement but also enhances weapon ergonomics, reduces unnecessary weight, and ensures comfortable access to all controls and accessories.
