In short: the AFR Drek is a universal steel QD sling base that clamps to a Picatinny or Weaver rail and gives you a quick-detach socket wherever there is rail to put it on. It is the rail-mounted sibling of the AFR Revers, which occupies the AR end plate position instead; the DOLG QD wrap covers platforms with no rail at all.

Overview

The Drek does one job: put a QD socket on a rail, and keep it there. It clamps to any Picatinny or Weaver interface with a single DIN 7984 M5x25 screw, sits 12 mm above the rail, and accepts any standard 9.7 mm QD swivel - including swivels from other makers.

Two details separate it from the light-alloy bases that occupy the same slot. First, material: the Drek is structural steel, heat treated, with the surface hardened further by carbonitriding, so a steel swivel working in the socket does not wear the socket oval the way it will in alloy. Second, the inner cup is cut with recesses that lock the swivel against rotating on its axis - so the sling does not wind up as you move. Total weight is about 17 g. As with any QD base, choose the swivel carefully: a poor-quality swivel is the usual reason a sling releases when it should not.
