SAG Handguards

SAG handguards are free-float forends that upgrade the front end of an AK-platform sport carbine without modifying the base platform. The MK1 line is CNC-milled from high-strength aluminum with steel core parts and fasteners, and adds a monolithic 1913 top rail plus M-LOK for lights, optics and accessories.
Why a SAG Handguard
- Scout setup — mount lights, IR devices, a bipod and a red dot at the same time on one platform.
- Free-float barrel — improves consistency by isolating the barrel from handling pressure.
- No modification — installs without permanent changes and keeps the iron sights usable.
- Slot options — 4, 5 and 7-slot versions with inserts for AK, Saiga, Saiga-308 and VPO/RPK.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which platform does the MK1 handguard fit?
The MK1 fits stamped-receiver AK-platform sport carbines, including AK, Saiga, Saiga-308 and VPO/RPK, using the matching insert. It will not fit Zastava, VSKA or VEPR. Check the product note for the exact variant.
Do I lose the iron sights?
No. The MK1 does not block the factory iron sights and lets the buttstock fold fully for transport.
Which slot count should I choose?
More slots mean a longer rail and more mounting length. The 5-slot version removes the handguard retainer, and the 7-slot version also removes the bayonet lug; the product note lists the requirements.
Can I clean the carbine without removing it?
Yes. The MK1 stays in place during routine cleaning, so accessories on the top rail keep their zero.
