The SAG MK1 Handguard by Sureshot Armament Group is a complete solution for adding optics and lighting to your sporting platform without any modification to the original carbine. CNC-milled from high-strength aluminum alloy with steel inserts and fasteners, it free-floats the barrel for improved consistency and adds a continuous 1913-MIL-STD top monorail running from the gas block to the rear sight base.
Once installed, the MK1 fully free-floats the barrel, supports red dot and prism optics plus lighting on the top rail, does not require removal for field-stripping and cleaning, allows the stock to fold completely for transport, and does not block the iron sights.

The MK1 Handguard is produced in three platform-specific variants, each machined for a different receiver and barrel-seat geometry. These versions are not interchangeable – the mounting interface differs between them. Please select the variant that matches your platform using the Platform Version selector above before ordering:
- AK-Pattern version (SKU SAG-S20034) – for standard AK-footprint sporting platforms
- Saiga-308 version (SKU SAG-S20044) – for the Saiga-308 footprint
- VPO / Molot version (SKU SAG-S20077) – for the VPO / Molot footprint

Important: This handguard is not suitable for self-installation on full-size carbines built on certain Molot Arms AKM-pattern receivers (e.g. MA-136-02, MA-136C, MA-136-05). For those platforms, installation must be performed by a qualified gunsmith.

Q: How do I choose the right version?
A: Use the Platform Version selector above. The AK-pattern, Saiga-308, and VPO/Molot variants have different mounting geometry and are not interchangeable.
Q: Does it free-float the barrel?
A: Yes – once installed, the MK1 fully free-floats the barrel for improved consistency.
Q: Do I need a gunsmith?
A: For most platforms, no – it installs without modification. The exception is certain Molot Arms AKM-pattern full-size carbines, which require professional installation.
Q: Can I still fold the stock and clean the carbine?
A: Yes – the stock folds fully for transport, and the handguard stays on during field-stripping.
