Overview
The MK1 is SAG's free-float handguard for classic side-folding sporting platforms. Once installed, the barrel no longer touches the handguard at any point - what the shooter grips, rests on a bag, or hangs a bipod from stops influencing where the barrel points.
The top rail is a single continuous 1913-MIL-STD monorail running from the gas block to the rear sight base, four slots long. Because it is one piece rather than a series of separate rails, an optic and a night-vision or thermal unit mounted in line stay in line.
Installation needs no machining, and the handguard does not have to come off to field-strip the carbine - which is the practical difference between a handguard you fit once and one you fight with every cleaning. Folding stocks still fold. The body is CNC-milled high-strength aluminum alloy with steel inserts and fasteners. Longer rails are available as the 5-slot S20034 and 7-slot S20041.
Installation Note
This handguard is not suitable for self-installation on full-size carbines built on certain Molot Arms AK-pattern receivers (e.g. MA-136-02, MA-136C, MA-136-05). For those platforms, installation must be performed by a qualified specialist.
