Overview
The 7-slot MK1 is the longest of SAG's free-float handguards. The extra rail length is what you want when an optic has to sit forward, or when a magnifier, a clip-on thermal or a night-vision unit needs its own space in line behind or ahead of the primary sight.
As with the shorter MK1s, the barrel free-floats once the handguard is installed, so grip pressure and bipod load stop influencing point of impact. The top rail is a single continuous 1913-MIL-STD monorail running gas block to rear sight base.
Three versions cover the common platforms: S20041 for AK-pattern, S20043 for Saiga-308 and S20065 for VPO/Molot. Installation needs no machining and the handguard is not removed for field-stripping. Full-size carbines built on certain Molot Arms receivers (MA-136-02, MA-136C, MA-136-05) must be fitted by a qualified specialist.
Select the Correct Platform Version
The MK1 Handguard is produced in three platform-specific variants, each machined for a different receiver and barrel-seat geometry. These versions are not interchangeable - the mounting interface differs between them. Please select the variant that matches your platform using the Platform Version selector above before ordering:
- AK-Pattern version (SKU SAG-S20041) - for standard AK-pattern-footprint sporting platforms
- Saiga-308 version (SKU SAG-S20043) - for the Saiga-308 footprint
- VPO / Molot version (SKU SAG-S20065) - for the VPO / Molot footprint
