SAG MK3.1 MIL/LE Chassis - Free-Float Handguard and Monolithic Top Rail
Overview
The MK3.1 MIL/LE is SAG's answer for an owner who wants to run a mounted light, an IR device and a red dot or LPVO on an AK-pattern carbine without cutting, drilling or welding anything on the carbine itself. Everything the chassis needs is already on the platform.
It is machined from high-strength aluminum alloy, with the core parts and fasteners in steel. Once mounted, the barrel free-floats inside the tubular handguard, so bipod load and grip pressure stop moving the point of impact. Optics go on a monolithic 1913-MIL-STD rail that runs unbroken from the gas tube to the end of the shortened cover.
The front part of the upper stays in place when the carbine is stripped for cleaning, which means the optic keeps its zero through maintenance. The buttstock still folds fully for transport, and the iron sights are not blocked. The detachable rear section of the top cover carries its own 1913 rail for equipment that does not need a zero - a magnifier, a night-vision unit. When a barrel is shot out, the chassis comes off and goes onto the next carbine.
