In short: a Y-cut shoulder harness that carries the weight of a loaded belt on your shoulders instead of your hips - so the belt stays where you put it.
Overview
These straps are the first layer of a load-bearing setup. They clip to a belt or a padded band and take the downward pull of everything hung on it, which is what stops the belt creeping down as you move.
The Y cut puts a single strap down the spine and splits it across the shoulders, so the load spreads without crossing hardware in the middle of your back where a pack would sit on it.
Construction is deliberately light and thin in profile. They can be worn under a carrier or a jacket without adding bulk at the shoulder, and they come off the belt in seconds when you do not need them.
