In short: the Stich Profi 99903 is a waterproof and dust-proof cover for a 60-80 L pack, made from waterproof fabric with a PU coating that keeps rain, snow and dust off the pack body and out of the zips.
Overview
Pack fabric is water-resistant, not waterproof, and the zips are the first thing to let water through. A cover solves both at once for a fraction of the weight of a dry bag, and it also protects the pack itself from abrasion when it is set down on rock, thrown in a vehicle or checked as baggage.
The fabric is PU-coated. It packs down small enough to live permanently in a lid pocket, which is the only way a cover ever actually gets used.
