Overview
Gaiters fail in two places: the underfoot strap and the closure. The strap here is steel cable rather than webbing or elastic, which is what survives being dragged over rock and through frozen ground instead of parting halfway through a season. The closure is a zip with a hook-and-loop flap running its whole length over the top, so snow and grit cannot work into the teeth.
The flap is fixed by two press studs, top and bottom, so it stays shut when you are pushing through brush. The body is 100% nylon of the Cordura family - abrasion-resistant and water-shedding, which is all a gaiter needs to be.
